A man was shot this morning at the Cornellà police station after he tried to attack the officers with a white weapon, according to the Mossos d’Esquadra.
The events have happened shortly before 6 in the morning, indicate the police sources.
According to sources close to the case consulted by Efe, upon entering the police station the man has shouted «Allah is great» (Allahu Akbar) with a knife in his hand, so the agent responsible for access to the police station at that time has shot.
The aggressor is, say the sources, a neighbor of Cornellà de Llobregat and had a Spanish NIE, although he is a native of Algeria. The man was born in April 1989.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have begun to cordon off the police station, located on Calle de la Travessera, number 11 in Cornellà (Barcelona).
The control room of the Mossos d’Esquadra has warned of what happened to the rest of the police stations of the Catalan autonomous police as well as to the rest of the State’s security forces.
The incident takes place just three days after the anniversary of the jihadist attacks of 17-A in Barcelona and Cambrils in which 16 people died.
