There is a roundabout on Av. De Cartagena, with four masts and flags, which fits perfectly to what is required to raise an aeronautical monument, similar to those that embellish other points of the Spanish geography (Murcia included) and abroad . Given the characteristics of this urban space, without buildings of height in its vicinity, its vision would be optimal, improving many of those currently existing in other cities. It would not be necessary to remove the flags, because they would look more. Aviation and Los Alcázares have been holding hands for more than a hundred years. The strange thing is that the municipal managers have not noticed it.
Possibly it is due to the fact that the Municipal People’s Group (GMP) thinks that the plane will come flying alone, but it will not be like that, but it will have to formally request it from the General Air Academy, as the Murcia City Council had to do at the time. place a C-101 Aviojet (Blackbird) in a roundabout in Beniaján; successful choice to beautify a public space. ■ INFANTE DE ORLEANS FOUNDATION (FIO)
The City of San Javier and the Regional Government are making arrangements with this Foundation (www.fio.es) so that the airport’s passenger terminal, once the International Airport of the Region of Murcia (Corvera) becomes operational, is the official headquarters of this Museum of Historical Aircraft in Flight. The interest is given by the enormous acceptance that all the activities of this Foundation have, one of the best in Europe of its characteristics. Both the static exposure of the aircraft that make up the FIO fund and the periodic exhibitions in flight attract thousands of visitors during the dates they are held, currently ten days a year: the first Sunday of every month, except August and December.
The presence of thousands of visitors has a great impact on the economy of the area, especially in restaurants. Los Alcázares, as is usual when an air show is made at the AGA Base, always benefits from the presence of a large audience. Having a roundabout «dressed» with an AGA plane would be a major demand for the city and its integration in the aeronautical image of the surroundings, because it is the only riverbank town in the Mar Menor that does not have this tourist attraction.
