A total of 21 images of Jesus will enter the houses to bless them and receive the adoration of their neighbors
A total of 21 children today go out to the street in the traditional ‘Feast of the Child Jesus’ of Abarán. The newborn will visit the almost 4,000 homes of the municipality in a party that has its roots several centuries ago. The first children will leave from early today to hospitals and residences, where there are abaraneros entered, while this afternoon, in two batches, children will leave from the church of San Juan Bautista and from the parish of San Pablo. Last Friday, through a simple ceremony and fulfilling a ritual that has already become an obligatory appointment every January 4, we proceeded to the ‘dressed’ of the children with attire specially designed for them. A hundred people attended this event in which Christmas carols were sung, and several of the images of the Baby Jesus were prepared. On the afternoon of the Day of Kings, images of the Child Jesus cross the streets and homes of Abarán. Preceded by the animeros and carried by priests and laity, the ‘Jesus Children’ enter all the houses of the town, blessing them and receiving the adoration of their inhabitants. The family is the great protagonist of this tradition, whose origins go back to the XVIII century.
