The president of the Community, Fernando Lopez Miras, said yesterday that the new Archena bridge over the river Segura, whose works will begin this year, «is a very ambitious project, the result of collaboration between the regional government and the City of Archena , and responds to a historical claim of the neighbors and the Consistory itself ». López Miras presided at the meeting of the Governing Council in Archena. He stressed that the works will have an investment of more than five million euros.
The new infrastructure will improve access to the urban center from the A-30 highway, and is part of an integral action for the adaptation and restoration of the historic iron bridge and the construction of a new one, in parallel, to double its road capacity, increase the fluidity of the traffic and eliminate the retentions of vehicles. El presidente de la Comunidad, Fernando López Miras, aseguró ayer que el nuevo puente de Archena sobre el río Segura, cuyas obras se iniciarán este año, «es un proyecto muy ambicioso, fruto de la colaboración entre el Gobierno regional y el Ayuntamiento de Archena, y da respuesta a una reivindicación histórica de los vecinos y del propio Consistorio». López Miras presidió en Archena la reunión del Consejo de Gobierno. Allí destacó que las obras contarán con una inversión superior a los cinco millones de euros.
La nueva infraestructura mejorará los accesos al centro urbano desde la autovía A-30, y forma parte de una actuación integral para la adecuación y restauración del histórico puente de hierro y la construcción de uno nuevo, en paralelo, para duplicar su capacidad viaria, aumentar la fluidez del tráfico y eliminar las retenciones de vehículos. Los trabajos más inmediatos se centrarán en la restauración del puente actual
