The prisoner Santiago Izquierdo Trancho, who was serving a three-year sentence for three crimes of theft with force in things, escaped on Monday from Mansilla de las Mulas prison (León) taking advantage of the concession of a prison permit.
The prisoner is still absent, according to Efe sources confirmed by the Government Delegation in the Community, who have pointed out that although the convict is known for his extensive criminal record, with crimes for which he reached 138 years in prison, he now fulfilled a penalty for three crimes of theft.
The incident took place on Monday after the prisoner obtained a judicial permit similar to the third degree when he had served a quarter of his last sentence for which he was an inmate in this prison, according to prison sources.
This is article 100.2, which introduces the so-called flexibility principle and grants a regime of self-government of a few hours.
In the case of Santiago Izquierdo Trancho, he was granted temporary freedom to move from the prison of Villahierro de Mansilla de las Mulas, where he was serving a sentence, to the Center for Social Insertion (CIS) Jesús Haddad Blanco de León.
Taking advantage of these hours in a regime of self-government, the prisoner left the prison but did not enter the CIS, the same sources have confirmed.
Santiago Izquierdo Trancho is an inmate known to have served several years in various Spanish prisons since the 1980s for various crimes such as murder, kidnapping of officials, attempted evasion, contempt, assault, threats and robberies, for which he arrived. to add a sentence of 138 years in prison.
