CARTAGENA / Five boats intercept with 54 immigrants off the coast

Salvamento Marítimo has intercepted five pateras with 54 immigrants on board off the coast of Cartagena, Murcia on Saturday. According to sources from the government delegation in Murcia, the first of the boats was detected 5.6 miles south of the border. coast of Cabo de Palos (Cartagena), with eleven immigrants on board, apparently of Algerian origin and in good health. The rest of the boats, another four, were intercepted shortly after also off the coast of Cartagena with 43 crew and all were towed to port with the Mimosa Maritime Rescue vessel and the Guadalentín Civil Guard patrol vessel. In the last four days 277 immigrants have been located on the coast of Cartagena and Águilas, aboard about twenty pateras, around about thirty of them minors and five women.
