The agrarian organization indicates that «if the frosts continue, they could be catastrophic damages»
The agricultural professional organization ASAJA Murcia has estimated that the cold has been bitterly affected by the horticultural crops of the Guadalentín Valley, especially in Lorca, Totana, and also in Fuente Álamo. More than 40% of lettuce, artichokes and beans have been lost due to the cold, according to a statement.

As explained by the Secretary General of ASAJA Murcia, Alfonso Gálvez Caravaca, «the cold has strongly affected horticultural crops, especially broccoli and artichokes, also lettuce in the Campo de Cartagena, where we are evaluating the losses, but that will pass 35% in some areas. »

In addition, Gálvez Caravaca has also pointed out that «we hope that the cold tonight is benevolent because we have a lot of concern, that he is angry with citrus, especially with lemon, and we trust that no further damage will occur.»

«The Technical Services of ASAJA Murcia continue evaluating the losses, which from the economic point of view are large, and which have affected many farmers and municipalities. Undoubtedly, this adverse weather has seriously damaged the fruit and vegetable campaign that was already difficult and complicated, «says Gálvez Caravaca.
