Archena loses one of his favorite sons after the death of the priest Antonio López Baeza

In the early hours of this Thursday he left us at 82 years old in his house in Archena, one of the most beloved and appreciated people of our town, our neighbor priest Antonio López, affectionately known as «El Jarrero», who for his dedication tireless to the mystical and spiritual culture and for his work as a priest, he became creditor of the title of favorite son of Archena. But in that journey towards the eternal, it leaves us a long way of memories, since there are many books that he wrote, some with such significant and profound titles as: «Life beyond sense», «A way in the impossible», «There remains love», «Songs of the new man»; and others with more spiritual character such as: «Prayer, exciting adventure», «For a church at the service of the world, and so on until completing several dozen published works, some of them written in verse, a genre that he loved and recited with an enormous artistic generosity, in the contests that the Literary Association offered.

I knew him from my childhood, because I was an altar boy when he studied at the seminary, and I have always observed his affable, friendly and close to the people around him. With an integral personality and with very clear ideas about life and humanity. He loved the dialogue that said «We are what we give and what we receive. Both things in unison. Only what is not shared is irretrievably lost. »

When finishing his studies he was ordained a priest on September 25, 1965, in the Church of San Andrés Apóstol of Murcia, occupying the following positions: 1965-1968: Coadjutor of the Parish La Purísima de Yecla. 1969-1971: Treasurer of the Parish of San Leandro de Cartagena. 1972-1974: Treasurer of the Parish of San Pedro Pescador de Cartagena. 1975-1982: Cura manager of the Immaculate Conception of Cartagena Parish. 1982-1985: Coadjutor of the Parish of Our Lady of Peace in Murcia. 1985: For a few months, he served as parish priest of Our Lady of Hope of Murcia and, later, in the same year, he became a cooperator of the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Rosario of Bacons Bridge.

In addition, he held other positions: 1968-1970: Member of the Presbyteral Council. 1972-1974: Professor of Religion at the School of Industrial Masters of Cartagena. 1974-1975: Resided outside the Diocese, to study in Madrid. 1976-1977: Professor of Religion at the University School of EGB Professors in Murcia. 1991: Counselor of Women of Catholic Action.
