The president of the Community, Fernando Lopez Miras, said yesterday that the new Archena bridge over the river Segura, whose works will begin this year, «is a very ambitious project, the result of collaboration between the regional government and the City of Archena , and responds to a historical claim of the neighbors and the Consistory itself ». López Miras presided at the meeting of the Governing Council in Archena. He stressed that the works will have an investment of more than five million euros.
The new infrastructure will improve access to the urban center from the A-30 highway, and is part of an integral action for the adaptation and restoration of the historic iron bridge and the construction of a new one, in parallel, to double its road capacity, increase the fluidity of the traffic and eliminate the retentions of vehicles.
