The Community delivered today the I Prizes of Disability of the Region of Murcia, which have been promoted by the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities for the first time, to distinguish associations and people who over the years have contributed to do more visible and improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.
The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, stressed that “it is a day to celebrate that the whole society fights hand in hand for the full inclusion of people with disabilities,” and stressed that “the regional government, with its president to the head, it has to this group in the center of its social policies “.
In addition, Tomás recalled that together with the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (Cermi) “has been taken forward the Law on Guarantees of Rights of People with Disabilities that has already begun its journey to be approved as soon as possible.”
The awards were presented in the General Archive with the presence of associations of people with disabilities throughout the region and the performance of a group of users of the Day Center of El Palmar.
Among the winners is José Gracia Villanueva, the current president of Aspaym Murcia; the Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities and their Families (Cermi); Delia Topham, who has been active since the 90s in the integration of people with disabilities and in the defense of their rights; and Mariano Manzanares Torres, president of the Association of Parents and Protectors of Persons with Psychological Disability of Murcia (Aspapros) and the Federation of Associations of Intellectual Disability of Murcia.
