The minimum base will be increased by 1.25% and the rate will be 30% in 2019, but in return the protection of the collective will be improved
The minimum contribution base for self-employed workers will rise by 1.25% from January 1, 2019, to 944.35 euros per month, and the rate of contribution will be 30%, which means that self-employed individuals they will have to pay 5.36 euros more per month (64 euros more per year) than what they currently pay, although in exchange they will receive greater protection, sources from the ATA and UPTA associations told Europa Pressen.

In total, in 2019, self-employed individuals will pay monthly 283.3 euros a month if they quote for the minimum base. In the case of corporate freelancers, the minimum base will rise next year to 1,214.08 euros per month. They will pay 364.22 euros per month, which means 6.89 euros per month more (82 euros more per year) than in 2018.

This has been agreed by the Government and the autonomous organizations ATA, UPTA, Uatae and CEAT in a meeting in which it has come to ratify the pre-agreement reached by the Ministry of Labor with ATA and UPTA last week and that is far from the proposals put the Executive on the table, as they implied increases in the minimum contribution of self-employed between 22 and 40 euros per month.

The agreement reached is waiting to be analyzed in the social dialogue table on Social Security to be held this afternoon and which are part government, unions and employers. The idea is that this new contribution system is transitory, since the objective is for the self-employed to contribute to Social Security based on their real income.

The quotation increase agreed for 2019 entails improvements in the protection of the self-employed, since access to the benefit for cessation of activity (unemployment) is improved, making the current requirements more flexible and extending the duration of the benefit.

Likewise, by virtue of the agreement reached, the self-employed will be entitled to collect the benefit for work-related injury or occupational disease from the first day of leave, and all self-employed workers will have access to continuous training and professional retraining.

In addition, the self-employed will not pay the Social Security fee from the second month of sick leave or temporary disability until the time of discharge and the autonomous women, within 24 months after the maternity leave, will enjoy a flat rate of 60 euros per month for 12 months without the need to cease previously in your activity.

As for the current flat rate of 50 euros per month, this will rise to 60 euros per month, remaining after the first 12 months the current rebates of the flat rate. The beneficiaries of the same will have access to the same rights and benefits
