MURCIA / Culture opens emergency file for the north facade of the Cathedral after the complaint of Huermur

The Ministry of Culture has initiated an emergency file for urgent repairs on the façade of the Chapel of Nuestra Señora del Socorro of the Cathedral of Murcia after the complaint of Huermur for the fall of rubble in summer.

Likewise, the General Directorate of Cultural Property has requested the property an inspection on the state of conservation of the different facades of the cathedral and the protections of the same, as well as the maintenance of the rainwater evacuation network, as requested by Huermur in August.

Huermur hopes that all the facades of the temple will be carefully reconsidered, as well as taking the necessary measures so that there will not be repeated episodes of falling rubble from the protected facades.

The conservation organization has also requested measures and reports on the recent detachment of parts of the historic facade of the building of the School of Dramatic Art of Murcia, a few meters from the Cathedral.

The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) celebrates the opening of the emergency file opened by the General Directorate of Cultural Property for urgent repairs on the north facade of the Cathedral of Murcia, which corresponds to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Socorro of the Murcian temple, after the denunciation of Huermur by the fall of debris in summer.

Likewise, and as requested by the conservation organization, the Ministry of Culture has requested the ownership of the Cathedral an inspection on the state of conservation of the different facades of the Cathedral and the protections of the same, as well as the maintenance of the network of evacuation of rainwater, as requested in writing by Huermur in the month of August after the detachment of rubble from the Cathedral on Oliver Street.

In the same sense, and after the recent fall of parts of the facade of the School of Dramatic Art of Murcia, Huermur has also requested measures and reports to the Ministry of Culture on what happened this week with this historic building located in the historic center of the city, and which is part of a unique historical-artistic complex next to the Cathedral, the Episcopal Palace and the Town Hall.

In the same sense has been pronounced the President of Huermur, Sergio Pacheco, indicating that: «we are glad that the regional administration take letters on this very worrying issue on the facades of the main monument of the city of Murcia, declared a National Monument in 1931 and that it was consecrated in 1467, just as we hope that we can finally see real measures on this BIC to prevent similar falls from falling again. »

Finally, Huermur expects to solve, as requested in 2017, the problems suffered by the imafronte of the Cathedral before the break of the networks that prevent the pigeons from accessing the rich sculptures of the main facade of the temple. that currently these animals are nesting on the facade and posing on the sculptures their acid excrements.
