MADRID / False diplomat falls stealing cars to order in 20 seconds

He lived in a flat «patera», did not know a word of Spanish and traveled aboard a car with counterfeit license plates of the diplomatic corps. In two months of stay in our country, this man, of Bulgarian nationality, acted alone and it was done with two cars a week until the agents of the Group of Organized Crime of the Automobile of the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, who followed the steps, stopped him. And they did it in which they have baptized Operation Diplo, which culminated with the arrest of this man, in search and capture in his country for similar crimes. It is, according to the Civil Guard, a true expert in car theft, which he executed with a latest technology. generation and of important economic value, only available to professionals in the sector. With his family residing in Bulgaria and without any roots in Spain, he arrived in our country two months ago to «work» on request. This has been verified by the UCO agents after an investigation that began when a vehicle with registration plates of the Polish Embassy could be detected that could be false. The suspicions of the investigators were confirmed when it was found that the vehicle that really belonged to that registration was in Poland, so the car carrying the fakes could have been stolen and used for criminal purposes, which damaged the image of the Polish diplomatic legation. Under the cover of diplomatic registration, the Bulgarian roamed the streets of Madrid in search of a model car demanded by the criminal organizations to which it offered its services. Once its prey was located, the detainee, armed with cutting-edge technology to extract the locks of the vehicles, cancel their devices and access the OBD port, I managed to start the car in just 20 seconds. Afterwards, he changed the license plates for others that were folded. When the Civil Guard stopped him, the suspect was carrying false documents, which corresponded to a neighbor of his from the Bulgarian town where he resided. Precisely, this false documentation and the use of a supposedly diplomatic vehicle allowed him to move with some ease through Madrid and avoid some police checks when circulating in search of his goal. However, when he stole the vehicle and had to drive it, the situation changed. So much so, that sometimes came to run away in some police control and circulated in a direction prohibited by several streets, with the consequent danger for passers-by. The detainee, for whom the judge ordered prison, was seized at home where he resided license plates of the embassies of Romania and Jordan and about fifteen European countries, all of them forged; more than twenty «virgin» vehicle keys, electronic devices to start cars and tools for handling rack numbers.
