Found the corpse of the 6-year-old boy disappeared in the flood in Mallorca

The rescue services of the Civil Guard, members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME), and firefighters of Mallorca have found today, the lifeless body of the 6-year-old boy disappeared due to the waterspout that hit the area of ​​the Lift off the island a week ago.

With the discovery of the lifeless body of little Arthur, the number of fatalities in the flood that rises to 13 in two municipalities in the northeast of the island, especially the population of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, rises to 13.

The body of the small Arthur has been located about 500 meters from the last bridge in the town of Sant Llorenç, next to a glassware ship located next to the torrent, as Efe has been able to verify on the spot.

The child’s family has been informed almost immediately of the finding of the body without life, which has been searched day and night by the rescue services of the Civil Guard, Firefighters of Mallorca, members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and Protection Civil on the mainland and also in the sea.

After the finding, 112 psychologists have come to see if they need their services.

The remains have been found in the area where the search operation had intensified the tracking since last Saturday, where a large amount of waste accumulated.

In that same place four trucks, nine cars and two motorcycles were removed on Saturday.

From the beginning the Civil Guard considered the possibility that it was in the area near the bridge of Son Carrió where the body of its mother was found or to the place where the surviving sister was found that appeared less than half a kilometer from where it has been found the child’s body.

In addition, the divers of the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Civil Guard (GEAS) have focused the search of the child in the final stretch of the Sant Llorenç torrent.

The mother, Joana Lliteras, pharmacist from the town of Manacor lost her life after being surprised by the waterspout with her two children, a 7-year-old girl and the 5-year-old, when she was driving her car.

The woman circulated under the storm from Manacor to Capdepera and deviated to enter Sant Llorenç before the intensity of the rains. Upon entering the town he was surprised by a large avenue of water from the upper part of the town.

According to the Civil Guard, there is evidence that the water had to begin to flood and drag the car, and the woman got out of the vehicle with her children. The force of the flow dragged the three of them.

The girl was rescued alive from the water several hundred meters ahead by a German who was riding a bicycle and the body of the woman was found about a kilometer below the next day.

Those killed by this tragedy are 7 men, 5 women and one child: six Spaniards, a British couple, a German couple, a German man and a Dutch woman. Four of the deceased were found in Artà, three in Sant Llorenç, three in S’Illot and three in Son Carrió.

The Bishop of Mallorca Sebastià Taltavull will offer this afternoon (7:00 pm) a funeral mass for the victims in Manacor, which will be attended by the kings.
