CARTAGENA / More than 400 swimmers gathered at the 2nd Playas de La Azohía Solidarity Journey

During the whole day more than 50 volunteers ensured that both on land and at sea the swimmers were protected and cared for.

The beaches of La Azohía witnessed, during this Sunday, August 5, the II Solidarity Journey in favor of the association D`Genes and the Thrush Foundation, in a day that brought together more than 400 athletes.

With a route of 5 km through the crystalline waters of La Azohía, the event was contested in which absolute category swimmers participated. At 10:00 hours the competition began for the athletes of children’s category, who had to cover 600 meters. An hour later it was the turn for the swimmers who completed 100 meters of solidarity and 1,500 meters, a test that was part of the Regional Open Water League.

On the other hand, at 12:30 hours the trophies were handed out, some distinctive signs made by hand by the students of the Primitiva López Special Education School and the Ápices Foundation.

In addition, throughout the day more than 50 volunteers ensured that both on land and at sea the swimmers were protected and cared for, thus ensuring the proper functioning of the test, which also collaborated with the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena.
