CARTAGENA / Medio Ambiente withdraws a ten-meter semi-permanent boat on the beach of Los Urrutias

The Director General of the Environment and Mar Menor, Antonio Luengo, attended today the work of removing a ten-meter boat length semivarada on the beach next to the marina of Los Urrutias.

This action is part of a proposed removal of sunken vessels, semi-sunken or stranded in the Mar Menor, which contribute to environmental and landscape restoration of the lagoon thanks to the restoration of degraded marine habitats and of wild fauna and flora, and to the improvement of water quality.

As part of this project, which has a budget of 115,900 euros, co-financed by European Funds for Regional Development (Feder), they have been identified fifty vessels, of which ten have already extracted. The removal of these vessels is always carried out after carrying out an analysis and evaluating if there is an impact for the underwater flora and fauna, and under the supervision of expert biologists in charge of ensuring that there is no impact on the ecosystem.
