COMMEMORATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN
The town of Archena has also joined the conmemorative events of International Women’s Day, with a rally at 12.00 hours, in the Plaza de España, next to the City Council, in which some 200 people, mostly women, have participated . In that act, the mayor, after asking for a minute of silence in memory of the victims of gender violence, has read a manifesto condemning sexist violence.
After the rally, a large group of women participants, belonging to the Sorority feminist organization, have started a demonstration through the main streets of the town, chanting phrases such as: «It is not outburst, it is assassination»; «Feminism to the front, machismo to the back», «The Patriarchy is an attack» … and others related to the wage gap.
Unas 200 personas, principalmente mujeres y trabajadores del Ayuntamiento de Archena, se han concentrado en las puertas del Ayuntamiento, como acto principal y más destacado del programa municipal con motivo de la celebración hoy del Día Internacional de la Mujer.En esta plaza de España, a las 12,00 horas, la Alcaldesa Patricia Fernández acompañada por el Equipo de Gobierno Municipal, ha leído un Manifiesto Oficial en favor de la Mujer que ha finalizado con un emotivo aplauso de los asistentes. La primera regidora municipal ha pedido posteriormente un minuto de silencio por las mujeres asesinadas, por violencia de género, en lo que va de año.
