ALCANTARILLA / The Parachute Sappers of the Air Force celebrate the XXV Anniversary of the 1st Deployment of EA Airborne Detachments in the Operations Area at the Sewer Air Base

On the morning of last Friday, the commemorative event of the XXV Anniversary of the First Deployment of the Aerotactic Detachments of the Air Force in the Operations Zone was held at the Sewer Air Base, in an event that was chaired by Lieutenant General Cesar Miguel Simón López, general commander of the Combat Command, better known by the MACOM, along with the chief colonel of the Alcantarilla Air Base, Francisco Javier Fernández and the head of the Air Force Parachute Sapper Squadron, EZAPAC, Lieutenant Colonel Juan Carlos Houses.

Act where the Alcantarilla City Council was represented by our Mayor, Joaquín Buendía, with significance in it, since Sewer through our institution and the casting sewer Amando Arts have made possible the delivery of a sculpture in bronze wax lost, the work of Murcia sculptor Mariano Moreno, artistic director of this artisan firm, with the symbol that represents them in international missions, a bull that is known worldwide for being the indicator used by the TAPC to talk with airplanes.

The monolith that will be exposed to the entrance of the Unit building in the Air Base, was discovered by the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, the chief general of the MACOM of the EA, Cesar Miguel Simón and the EZAPAC chief lieutenant colonel, Juan Carlos Casas, in an act that also had as a special guest the sewer entrepreneur of said foundry Amando López Gullón.

In August 1993, the Air Force sent Airborne Control Equipment (TACP) to the area of ​​operations (Bosnia-Herzegovina) with the mission of providing air support to protect the Spanish detachments in the area. They remained there until 2000. From 2004 to 2015 the TACPs were deployed in Afghanistan and since 2015 they are in Iraq. The TACPs are made up of 5 members, most of whom have been members of the EZAPAC, which is why the 25th anniversary of that first deployment was commemorated on November 16th.

On the occasion of the completion of the deployment in Bosnia, a commemorative monolith was inaugurated at the EZAPAC facilities. Now, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, this new commemorative monolith of the deployment of the TACP in Afghanistan is placed, a sculpture with the figure of a bull, since the indicative used by the TACP to speak with the airplanes is that of «bullfighter» (bullfighter).

Meteorology allowed the event to be held in the Plaza de Armas, where Lieutenant General Azqueta Ortiz, general director of INTA, gave a reading to the Board of Directors, which ordered the deployment of TACP equipment back in 1993. the subsequent delivery of degrees to students who had completed the JTAC course. After the speeches, offering to the Fallen and the land parade, part of the planned simulation could be celebrated, given that time prevented one hundred percent, of combat and terrorist ambush, in which a support Eurofighter fighter plane participated, taking place several explosions during the exercise, followed very closely by all the guests.
