ÁGUILAS / The City Council launches an action to improve accessibility and walkability in the commercial area of the center

The mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Local Development, Ginés Desiderio Navarro, have recently supervised the actions to improve accessibility that are taking place in the commercial area of ​​the center of the town, specifically in a radio of action in which, according to data facilitated by the agent of Local Development and Employment, more than 330 establishments are counted.

The actions, co-financed by the Autonomous Region of Murcia and the City of Águilas and framed in the Comprehensive Plan to Support the Competitiveness of Retail Trade in the Region of Murcia, have made it possible to improve trafficability with the improvement of accessibility and the elimination of the urban barriers of Doctor Luis Prieto, Juan Carlos I, Carlos III, Conde de Aranda and Juan Pablo I streets. In addition, 40 litter bins have been installed with which it is expected to increase the degree of cleanliness of the sidewalks reducing, especially, cigarette butts.

The first aquiline mayor, after the visit, said that «due to the interest of citizens in these actions, we have recently requested the General Directorate of Trade, Consumption and Administrative Simplification a subsidy to be able to carry out a second phase of this plan.»
